8/03/09 - The new First Street bridge
Well, here it is! Open at last! There's still some portable cyclone fencing laying around, but it's looks new, clean and refreshing. That's a nice touch with the street lamps.
7/25/09 - Explosives on West Pueblo
On Monday, July 13, the Napa Valley Register ran an article about this guy who lives on West Pueblo Ave. here in Napa that had his "toys" confiscated and one detonated by a bomb squad. In talking to a resident I know who lives on West Pueblo, I got the inside scoop about this ordeal when the bomb squad came and how the "lockdown" of this part of West Pueblo Ave. affected the residents who live in that area. Let's just say, they were glad when this hours-long situation was finally over. This resident described the blast and how loud it was. They even pointed me in the direction of the blast crater left behind by this explosive device, which lies near the middle of the westbound lane of West Pueblo Ave. not far from Solano Ave. You can even still see the scorch marks left behind, that radiate outward from the pock-mark. Before I knew what it was, I remember thinking that that was no ordinary looking pothole. Seeing the black marks around it resembling flame contact, the recent NVR article about the bomb squad having been there and detonating a device came to mind. Sure enough, it's the infamous blast crater. Here are three shots I got of it:
